Hola!

My name is Jeff Berwick.  In case you didn't already know me, I write The Dollar Vigilante, a subscription newsletter focused on surviving and prospering during the coming collapse of the US dollar financial system.

A part of our newsletter focuses on expatriation and I recently visited an amazing new community in northern Argentina that so impressed me that I have become one of it's biggest fans!

I was invited down by one of the developers and the ideas behind the community, Doug Casey.  Doug is an amazing person who has spent his life living free and profiting from government manipulations in the market.  So, when he invited me, I had to accept the offer.

I told my friends that I was going to go down to Argentina to check it out.  When asked, I told them, no, I had no intention of buying a property in the community... I was just going to go see what Doug was doing down there...

Well.  Within days of arrival I was so impressed by absolutely everything I saw that I purchased a lot!  My friends asked me, what happened?  I told them, it is hard to explain... you almost need to see and feel the place for yourself, but for me, it was paradise.

It's not just the geological surroundings... the community is uniquely placed in one of the most beautiful valleys I have ever seen and is just a two minute drive by car or by horse (a common transportation in this area) into the beautiful town of Cafayate in Salta Province.

It's much more than just that.  It is also the kind of people that are gravitating there.

Doug Casey and Myself in Cafayate - Click to EnlargeHaving the pleasure of seeing people like Doug Casey at the gym, spa, golf course or restaurants is almost worth the price itself.  Doug often talks about "phyles" - which is an ancient Greek term for a tribe or clan.  He is of the belief that nation states as they exist today are a brief aberration and that the world will trend more towards likeminded people living in areas (call them countries if you wish) with other similar like minded people.

This makes a lot of sense and is, in general, the way things are trending. 

This is occurring in Cafayate.  It is a place where libertarian/anarcho-capitalist/austrian-economics adherents are gravitating.  The kind of people who have no interest in nor use for government.  The kind of people who are moving here are almost all successful entrepreneurs, writers, scientists and other productive freedom-loving people.  It, quite possibly, is the world's first libertarian enclave!

I've never met so many interesting, amazing people all in one spot.  That, plus things like having a world-class steak and wine meal in town, served with elegance from waiters in bow-ties, for under $12, and I was hooked.
