Egypt Just The Billionth Example of the Problem of the State

I get 100% of my news from the internet and of the news I get on the internet, I'd guesstimate that 90% of it comes from non-mass media sources.  I only pay attention to the likes of Katie Couric or Brian Williams as I walk past a TV in an American airport.  And even then, the propaganda and spin they dispense leaves me feeling nauseous and disoriented even after just a few minutes of exposure.

However, when it comes to news from the Middle East and/or international news I have found that two particular networks are very good.  Al Jazeera and Russia Today.

Russia Today is an amazing source of raw footage - they upload countless raw video footages everyday to YouTube.  Here is an excellent example of one today from Cairo:

For any news from the Middle East nothing comes close to the breadth and depth of coverage of Al Jazeera.  For those who do not have access to Al Jazeera, they have excellent quality live streaming video available directly from their home page.

I spent some time watching some of the truly chaotic events in Cairo today.  I posted a few days ago that I was in a good mood because it appeared that much of the Arab world is finally waking up and deposing their oppressive governments.  But seeing true chaos like what is going on in Cairo right now is sad and scary at the same time.

As I watched I knew what those in favor of the State must be thinking, "You see, that's what happens when there are no government's to 'control' the people."

However that is the exact opposite of what we are actually seeing.  What we are witnessing in Cairo this week is the inevitable breakdown of a coercive, non-free market state.  After decades of repression and the subsequent poverty that States create, this is the natural evolution of any State.

This is happening because the State has held back free markets and individual rights for so long that it inevitably has to have a massive release.  What we are witnessing is not what the world would look like without a State.  We are witnessing what the world looks like after decades of oppression finally erupts in anger and chaos as the millions of people lash back at their oppressors.

In the February issue of The Dollar Vigilante we outlined the top 3 most likely outcomes from this eruption in the Arab world.  Owners of hard assets such as gold, energy and agriculture will be pleased to know that each of the three most likely outcomes are all US dollar bearish.

The events now happening on the streets in places like Egypt and Tunisia may hasten the inevitable march towards The End Of The Monetary System As We Know It (TEOTMSAWKI).  Hopefully these events don't cause a chain reaction that go far further, towards nuclear war with Israel and the US involved.  It is a fine line between TEOTMSAWKI and TEOTWAWKI (The End Of The World As We Know It).

In any case it is much better to be prepared for major global change in the coming years instead of listening to Katie Couric tell you how we are well into a "recovery" and to "get out and shop" to help the economy.  Subscribe to TDV today to keep informed on how to survive and thrive the coming Age of Turmoil.

News that has violence in it it I don't pay attention much but Cairo's situation is different it arouses my curiosity of the Arab world and how their peolpe are coming out to let their voices out against their oppressor. Let's just hope that it would not end up with the worst like you have mentioned. Now I am beginning to understand and learn about how our society changes to a more free one. How people wanted more freedom and say something to what they feel is wrong.

I can recommend the following product to end the constant stream of mass-media spin in airport lounges and elsewhere. It works with almost any TV. A really useful "Talking Head Terminator" . I never travel without it:
