Giving Up Freedom For Security
Monday, November 29, 2010 at 9:57PM Former US President, Dwight D. Eisenhower, once said, ""How far can you go without destroying from within what you are trying to defend from without?"
The events of September 11, 2001, no matter who you think was behind the attacks (it almost certainly wasn't Osama Bin Laden), has certainly changed the world we live in today. The US is still "at war" and occupying Iraq even though all involved, today, including George W. Bush, admit that the reasons given for attacking Iraq were all false.
Recent Nobel Peace prize winner, Barack Obama, continues on occupying Iraq and has now taken Afghanistan as being his pet war/occupation. And Barack continues to go around the world, shaking a stick at North Korea, Iraq and Pakistan, among others.
But inside of the US one of the most palpable changes since 9/11 is the state of "security". The Homeland Security department and the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) did not exist until after 9/11 yet today they form a large part of day-to-day life in the US.
The TSA has been in the news of late for the porno-scanners and radiation baths they dole out at airports. But, as much fuss as many people have put up about it, a recent poll showed 81% of Americans approve of the new devices and regulations.
Most of the US is still quite far from being like Nazi Germany, in its late stages, but people being "asked for their papers" is certainly becoming much more common. The State of Arizona has made it commonplace for anyone who doesn't look "American" to be asked to prove their legal citizenship.
Now there are reports, from the New York Times (On The Lake Shore Limited), of Border Patrol officials boarding trains traveling in western New York, no where near any border, asking people for their documents, questioning passengers about their citizenship and removing those who could not prove they were there legally.
And if this video from the TSA is any indication, things are about to get worse... much worse. And I'm not just talking about the horrible synthesizer music that they use to introduce their latest assault on liberty:
According to the TSA, these "checkpoints" will be set-up at sporting events and other areas where crowds gather and they will use technology to scan people for "behavioral and physiological indications of mal-intent".
A nice touch was when they state that, "the trailers low floor design allows accessability for all". Yes, we wouldn't want people in wheelchairs or who need walking aids not to get full access to being scanned for mal-intent!
Dwight D. Eisenhower stated, "We will bankrupt ourselves in the vain search for absolute security."
In our upcoming December edition of The Dollar Vigilante (Subscribe now! - 90 day money back guarantee) we will show how the amount of federal government and personal debt works out to over $1 million per family of four as all of the wars and security apparatus the US has set-up since 9/11 has bankrupted the country.
In TDV we discuss how to protect yourself and profit from the coming US dollar collapse and give insights into how to expatriate from the US to any number of beautiful, fun, cheap places to live worldwide where you will never be asked to "show your papers".
Because, as Ben Franklin said, "Those who sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither."
